Who We Are

Kholood Eid:

As a National Geographic and New York Times photographer, I’m always angling for ways to incorporate dogs in my photojournalism work—I’ve photographed dogs at the Westminster Dog Show and dogs receiving blessings via holy water from a priest in Brooklyn (among other stories). While the majority of my professional and personal work has revolved around humans, dogs bring the joy, levity and inspiration that makes me complete.

I fall in love anywhere between 3 to 37 times a day—this number fluctuates depending on the number of dogs that appear anywhere in my peripheral vision. Oddly enough, I grew up terrified of dogs. Now, I can hardly remember life before adopting my dog Professor (see: below), a hilarious and sweet Good Girl I took home my first day of grad school. She’s been my constant companion ever since.

Each Friend (aka dog) has an amazingly unique personality that I aim to capture using a similar approach to the intimate human portraiture that’s defined my aesthetic. The goal is a fun, comfortable and collaborative experience for all involved.
